BONNAROO: TO IT or AROUND IT!!!

It's that time of year for those living and traveling the proximity of Bonnaroo's Music and Arts Festival in Manchester, TN -- Ticket holders are making mad preps, stocking up on the essential camp items, mud boots, fan gear...

AND for the other demographic -- your thoughts or at least mine -- turn to planning drive times. I mean really -- some 80,000 or so people come from all over the world just to find their way to Manchester, Tennessee.

What you may want to know:

June 11th 7:00 AM Central - GATES OPEN

Juen 11th is the heaviest traffic

Exit 111 (SR 55) will be used as the main festival exit.

Exits: 97, 105, 112 (temporary exit on westbound side only), 117 and 127 are alternate exits IF congestion occurs on the interstate.

HELP TRUCKS thanks to the Tennessee Department of Transporation: posted throughout the festival region, and maintenance personnel on call all weekend.

TDOT will have message signs up -

NOTE: Festival traffic will be kept in the right lane and/or on the shoulder of the interstate, allowing through traffic to utilize the left travel --

ALSO -- for those attending and for those who wish for the convenience of those quick off ramp stops: ICE, Beverages, etc -- WELL, let's just say - if you don't stock up somewhere PRECEDING your arrival there -- exits as far as Chattanooga (east of Manchester) and Murfreesboro (west of Manchester) have been known to run out of those gallon jugs of water, beer, ice. So, again, STOCK UP on those essentials.

This Intrigues Me:

It's been a pretty busy day for lawmakers in Tennessee -- or at least it appears that way. First, you may have heard a bill allowing permit holders to carry their guns on their person into establishments passed the House and Senate -- THE condition written is that the gun carrier DOES NOT consume alcohol. THEN, last week, Tennessee's Governor Phil Bredesen VETOED the bill. If I remember correctly, Wednesday's vote of 69-27 resurrects it -- into law.

On the flip side -- State financial guru's say they're thinking that about 100-million dollars MORE is needed from Tennessee's "Rainy Day Fund" to shore up this year's budget. Well, at least that's what they told the State House Finance committee -- this comes as estimates of May's tax receipts are tallied up -- Wasn't MOTHER's DAY in MAY?? AND Memorial Day -- the big white sales and shoes and the sale of all the season transitionals?

hmmm....could this translate into a whole different idea -- we just don't spend on mom? We just don't spend?

What does this translate to? More cuts? Or rather DEEP CUTS next year? I certainly do not envy, those wielding the ax and having to drop it on the chopping block.

HOLY CRACK BAG

Scanning through my radio frequencies this morning I caught a unique little story that caught my attention. According to NPR's Morning Edition law officials in CHILE discovered two suitcases at the airport. Now, now, before you start wondering if it's YOUR LOST BAGGAGE: The reporter indicates a woman carrying, checking or claiming them, happened to be booked to fly from Chile to Spain. The Bags: Made of Cocaine. HOW IS IT POSSIBLE -- YOU ASK? Well, I wondered the same. Imagining a square-- made of pillow-ee, bricks of white. However, NPR cites an AP report too -- saying the suitcases were MADE by combining resin and glass fiber and cocaine -- and that the drug could be separated in a chemical process later. Do you think the luggage was a gift -- and she really had a clue? HOW she got caught -- well, the suitcases weighed MORE than their contents! Particularly -- as a woman who prefers to take EVERYTHING with me on trips -- EVEN I KNOW that would be suspicious. There ya go!

Recycling Opportunities INCREASE within City Limits

(CHATTANOOGA) — Plastic, paper and metal - RECYCLING is a BIG issue within the City of Chattanooga. June 2009, At the open of his second term, Mayor Littlefield announced an increase in curbside recycling -- increasing the city's service from once a month to twice a month beginning in September of 2009.

When the current mayor, Ron Littlefield, took office -- budget discussions eventually brought about a significant decrease in the Scenic City's curbside pick-up routine. Though, that cut in budget left recycling buffs piling up the cans and bags in their garage or pantry - the City launched an education campaign (2007) complete with mascot and began implementing recycling drop sites throughout the city limits.

With the announcement of the curbside recycling increase also comes a call for REGISTRATION! That's right -- in order to join the biweekly collection list - you'll have to visit the recycleright.org website or call 643-JOIN

NOW -- for those of you trimming back and cleaning up - THERE IS MORE. Apparently, the city is also putting a "BRUSH ON DEMAND" service into place. Beginning July 1st of 2009, city residents can call 311 to request a collection rather than piling up the mess and leaving it for all to see until the pick-up week, already in place, rolls around.

AND -- the city has more! YUP! MORE -- and if you're a creature of routine -- and that doesn't watch news, read the paper or keep up with little tidbits such as this -- GARBAGE PICK UP days are about to change!!! You actually, should receive a notification in the mail letting you know what the new day is. There ya go!

A FREEBIE for ya --

Alright -- So, Chattanooga, Tennessee's BIG music festival is in just a matter of days. It's the same one, that happens about this very same time - hosted by the Friends of the Festival -- and IF YOU do not know about this event, Click on the google search to the right and it'll pull up FRIENDS OF THE FESTIVAL with the event line-up and schedule.

BUT TODAY -- Rolling through the latest "happenings" on the Chattanoogan.com -- I see a nice little article about PARKING! YUP -- Thought Chattanooga Festival goers would want to know, that according to the web report, "Unum Offers Parking Lots For Riverbend Festival"

THAT is about enough room for around 600 vehicles -- that is if PEOPLE park in between the little painted lines -- Imagine: IF festival goers were to carpool -- (ponder....ponder....think...imagine...awwlrigght).

Unum is offering its parking lots for Riverbend festival fans. Unum’s lots include 600 parking spaces that neighbor the festival sites making Unum’s lots convenient for festival-goers.

Now, the Chattanoogan.com indicates there are restrictions -- because the parking is needed for regular work hours.

Here is what I'd want to know:
"Beginning June 5 and ending June 13, Unum’s parking lots will be available after 4 p.m. Parking is available all day on the weekends." SOURCE: chattanoogan.com
