It's that time of year for those living and traveling the proximity of Bonnaroo's Music and Arts Festival in Manchester, TN -- Ticket holders are making mad preps, stocking up on the essential camp items, mud boots, fan gear...
AND for the other demographic -- your thoughts or at least mine -- turn to planning drive times. I mean really -- some 80,000 or so people come from all over the world just to find their way to Manchester, Tennessee.
What you may want to know:
June 11th 7:00 AM Central - GATES OPEN
Juen 11th is the heaviest traffic
Exit 111 (SR 55) will be used as the main festival exit.
Exits: 97, 105, 112 (temporary exit on westbound side only), 117 and 127 are alternate exits IF congestion occurs on the interstate.
HELP TRUCKS thanks to the Tennessee Department of Transporation: posted throughout the festival region, and maintenance personnel on call all weekend.
TDOT will have message signs up -
NOTE: Festival traffic will be kept in the right lane and/or on the shoulder of the interstate, allowing through traffic to utilize the left travel --
ALSO -- for those attending and for those who wish for the convenience of those quick off ramp stops: ICE, Beverages, etc -- WELL, let's just say - if you don't stock up somewhere PRECEDING your arrival there -- exits as far as Chattanooga (east of Manchester) and Murfreesboro (west of Manchester) have been known to run out of those gallon jugs of water, beer, ice. So, again, STOCK UP on those essentials.
